Sintered (porcelain) ceramic kitchen worktops are made from large-format slabs of natural minerals, pressed and fired at over 1,200 °C, without resins. They withstand heat, scratches and UV rays, do not absorb liquids and do not need sealing, so they also suit summer kitchens and terraces.
The patterns faithfully imitate marble, stone or concrete, and the wall cladding can be made from the same material, with the pattern continuing onto the worktop. This category contains 46 models from EKXTRA, Fondovalle and Nuovocorso; many are available in both gloss and matt finishes, each with its own price. The edge can be visually thickened by joining.
Prices per linear metre start from 206,25 €/ml + VAT (1.333 lei/lm incl. VAT), with a median price of 250,80 €/ml + VAT (1.621 lei/lm incl. VAT; October 2026). More about the material is on the About ceramic page, and the differences from quartz in the comparison of materials.
Ceramic, Neolith or Laminam: prices
Neolith and Laminam are sintered stone brands, from the same family of materials as sintered ceramic, and have separate categories in the catalogue. The table compares the prices shown on the site for kitchen worktops.
| Material | Models | From (€/ml + VAT) | Median (€/ml + VAT) | Up to (€/ml + VAT) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sintered ceramic (about the material) | 46 models | from 206,25 €/ml + VAT (1.333 lei/lm incl. VAT) | median 250,80 €/ml + VAT (1.621 lei/lm incl. VAT) | up to 285 €/ml + VAT (1.842 lei/lm incl. VAT) |
| Neolith (about Neolith) | 64 models | from 325,60 €/ml + VAT (2.105 lei/lm incl. VAT) | median 445,50 €/ml + VAT (2.880 lei/lm incl. VAT) | up to 553,35 €/ml + VAT (3.577 lei/lm incl. VAT) |
| Laminam (about Laminam) | 59 models | from 286 €/ml + VAT (1.849 lei/lm incl. VAT) | median 334,80 €/ml + VAT (2.164 lei/lm incl. VAT) | up to 389,50 €/ml + VAT (2.518 lei/lm incl. VAT) |
Prices are per linear metre and cover the worktop only, without labour. Prices in lei include 21% VAT, at the NBR exchange rate of 30.10.2026 (€1 = 5,3426 lei). The full calculation, with cut-outs and installation, is explained in the price guide.
Matt or gloss finish
For ceramic, the price depends on the finish. An example from the catalogue, the Calacatta Gold model:
| Finish | Price (€/ml + VAT) |
|---|---|
| Gloss | Calacatta Gold, gloss: 259,60 €/ml + VAT (1.678 lei/lm incl. VAT) |
| Matt | Calacatta Gold, matt: 285 €/ml + VAT (1.842 lei/lm incl. VAT) |
The practical differences between the two finishes, in appearance and care, are explained in the article on matt or gloss ceramic for a worktop.
Ceramic or quartz: the main differences
| Criterion | Sintered ceramic worktop | Quartz worktop |
|---|---|---|
| Heat | Ceramic: contains no resins, so it withstands heat much better. | Quartz: tolerates only brief exposure, up to 100–120 °C; hot pans go on a trivet. |
| Outdoors and sun (UV) | Ceramic: resists UV rays and can also be used outside. | Quartz: not recommended outdoors, because direct sunlight can discolour the resins. |
| Edges and impact | Ceramic: edges and corners are more sensitive, and a chip is difficult to repair. | Quartz: tolerates knocks on the edges better and allows more edge profiles. |
| Price from | Ceramic: from 206,25 €/ml + VAT (1.333 lei/lm incl. VAT). | Quartz: from 157,50 €/ml + VAT (1.018 lei/lm incl. VAT). |
All the criteria, including Neolith, Laminam and granite, are in the full comparison of quartz, ceramic, Neolith, Laminam and granite. The quartz models are in the quartz kitchen worktops category.
Ceramic worktops for outdoor and summer kitchens
Sintered ceramic contains no resins, resists heat and UV rays, does not absorb liquids and does not need sealing. That is why a ceramic worktop can also be fitted in summer kitchens or on terraces, and so can Neolith and Laminam worktops. Composite quartz, on the other hand, is not recommended outside: direct and prolonged sunlight can discolour the resins in its composition.
Bathroom worktops and ceramic slabs
This page shows made-to-order kitchen worktops. For bathrooms, see the ceramic bathroom worktops (18 models), and for wall cladding, showers or furniture, the ceramic slabs (243 models), sold as whole slabs, priced per square metre.

Frequently asked questions
Can I put hot pans on a ceramic worktop?
Ceramic contains no resins, so it withstands heat much better than composite quartz.
Does a ceramic worktop chip?
The surface is very scratch-resistant, but the edges and corners are more sensitive to impact than on quartz, and a chip is difficult to repair without traces. Avoid knocking the edges with heavy objects.
How much does a linear metre of ceramic worktop cost?
In this category, prices range from 206,25 €/ml (1.333 lei/lm incl. VAT) to 285 €/ml, excluding VAT (1.842 lei/lm incl. VAT). The full calculation, with cut-outs and installation, is given in the quote; examples are in the price guide.
What do sintered or porcelain ceramic mean?
They are two names for the same type of material: large-format slabs of natural minerals, pressed and fired at over 1,200 °C, without resins. The terms “ceramic worktop” and “sintered stone” are also used in the trade. Neolith and Laminam are brands from the same family; Dekton, another name often heard, is not part of the Prowest catalogue.
Can a ceramic worktop be used outdoors?
Yes. Sintered ceramic resists UV rays and heat and does not absorb liquids, so it suits summer kitchens and terraces. The edges, however, remain more sensitive to impact than on quartz, so they are best kept away from heavy objects.
