About Ceramic

Discover large-format sintered ceramic, the revolutionary material that redefines standards of durability and aesthetics in interior design. With exceptional resistance to heat, scratches, and UV rays, Prowest ceramic worktops are the ultimate choice for a modern and impeccable kitchen that will withstand the test of time and intense use.

About Ceramic

Sintered ceramic, also known as large-format technical porcelain stoneware, represents the pinnacle of innovation in materials for worktops and cladding. Unlike traditional ceramic, this material is produced through an advanced sintering process, which mimics natural geological processes, but on an accelerated and controlled scale. Natural minerals such as quartz, feldspar, clay, and pigments are compacted at extremely high pressures and then fired at temperatures exceeding 1200°C, resulting in an ultra-compact, non-porous, and incredibly resistant slab.

The manufacturing process gives ceramic a homogeneous structure and exceptional density, eliminating the pores and weak points inherent in natural stones. This advanced technology ensures superior dimensional stability and remarkable mechanical resistance, transforming it into an ideal material for surfaces exposed to intense wear. The result is a product with physical and chemical properties clearly superior to many other materials, including granite or even composite quartz, in certain respects.

Prowest ceramic worktops are distinguished by a modern aesthetic and impressive versatility. Thanks to high-resolution digital printing technology, ceramic slabs can faithfully reproduce the appearance of natural stones (marble, granite), wood, concrete, or metal, offering an infinite range of colors, textures, and finishes. The large format of the slabs allows for continuous surfaces, with minimal joints, contributing to an elegant and uniform appearance in any space.

Choosing a ceramic worktop means investing in a product that combines natural beauty with cutting-edge technological performance. It is the perfect solution for modern kitchens and bathrooms, where hygiene, durability, and sophisticated design are priorities. Its resistance to external factors makes it suitable even for outdoor applications, extending design possibilities beyond the interior of the home.

Advantages

  • Heat resistance: Withstands direct contact with hot pots, without deteriorating or altering its appearance.
  • Scratch resistance: Its exceptional hardness makes it extremely resistant to scratches and abrasion, maintaining its impeccable appearance.
  • UV resistance: It does not fade or lose its shine under direct sunlight, making it ideal for outdoor use as well.
  • Non-porous and hygienic: The completely non-porous surface prevents the absorption of liquids, the growth of bacteria, and the appearance of stains, making it easy to clean and sanitize.
  • Exceptional durability: It has an average lifespan of over 25 years, maintaining its properties and appearance over time.
  • Aesthetic variety: A vast range of colors, textures, and finishes, from faithful imitations of natural stone to modern designs, in large formats.

Maintenance and use instructions

Prowest sintered ceramic worktops are renowned for their remarkable resistance and ease of maintenance. Thanks to their ultra-compact and non-porous structure, they do not require sealing and are extremely resistant to stains, scratches, and heat. By following a few simple rules, you will enjoy the beauty and functionality of your worktop for decades.

To keep your ceramic worktop in the best condition, routine cleaning with a damp cloth and a neutral liquid detergent is usually sufficient. It is recommended to clean up spilled liquids or food residues immediately, even though ceramic is extremely stain-resistant, to prevent drying and facilitate subsequent cleaning. Always rinse thoroughly with water after using any cleaning agent to remove residues.

Unlike other materials, ceramic allows the use of a wider range of cleaning products, thanks to its superior chemical resistance. However, to preserve the original finish and avoid residue buildup, avoid cleaning products containing wax, oils, or strong abrasive substances, which could leave a film or affect the surface's sheen over time. For persistent stains, you can use specific cleaning products, according to the list below.

Ceramic worktops are extremely resistant to thermal shock and high temperatures, allowing hot pots to be placed directly on them. Also, their hardness makes them very scratch-resistant, but the use of cutting boards is always recommended to protect both the worktop and cutting utensils.

  • Routine cleaning: Damp cloth and neutral liquid detergent. Rinse with water and dry.
  • Dried liquids (juices, sauces, coffee): Damp cloth and spray detergent (e.g., Cif Power Spray). Rub gently, rinse well, and dry.
  • Grease: Damp cloth and degreaser (e.g., Ajax Spray, Mr Muscle Kitchen Spray). Apply, remove, rinse thoroughly, and dry.
  • Hard-to-remove dried stains (mustard, gum, paint, nail polish): Plastic spatula to gently scrape, then damp cloth with a strong detergent (e.g., Mr Proper Active Gel). Rinse and dry.
  • Rust or limescale: Anti-limescale and anti-rust products (e.g., Cilit Bang Anti Calcar). Apply directly, remove, rinse thoroughly with clean water.

Good to know

What is a sintered ceramic worktop?

Sintered ceramic worktops are made from large-format ceramic slabs, obtained through an advanced technological process of high-pressure compaction and firing at extremely high temperatures of natural minerals. This process creates an ultra-compact, non-porous material with superior physical and chemical properties, ideal for work surfaces.

Why choose a ceramic worktop for my kitchen?

By choosing a ceramic worktop, you benefit from exceptional resistance to heat, scratches, and UV rays, antibacterial properties, and extremely easy maintenance. It is a durable, hygienic material with a modern aesthetic, available in a wide variety of colors and textures, which will add value and elegance to any kitchen.

How does ceramic compare to other materials like quartz or granite?

Sintered ceramic surpasses quartz and granite in terms of resistance to direct heat and UV rays, not being affected by discoloration or thermal shock. It is as scratch-resistant as quartz (or even more so, depending on the type), it is non-porous (like quartz, but unlike granite which requires periodic sealing) and offers superior hygiene. Furthermore, it allows for large formats with almost invisible joints.

Is the ceramic worktop hygienic and safe for food contact?

Absolutely. Thanks to its completely non-porous surface, sintered ceramic does not allow the absorption of liquids, the growth of bacteria, or mold. It is a hygienic material, easy to clean, and certified for direct food contact, making it an excellent choice for any kitchen.

Can ceramic also be used in outdoor spaces?

Yes, ceramic's exceptional resistance to UV rays, temperature variations (thermal shock), and freeze-thaw cycles makes it an ideal material for outdoor applications, such as outdoor kitchen worktops, facade cladding, or barbecue areas, without the risk of discoloration or deterioration.
